THE RACE

It was Allen Gardner of the USA leading the way out of the water with a swim time of 22:51.

A group of three including Richie Cunningham, Andres Casillo Latorre, and Henry Beck came out virtually together about 45 seconds behind Gardner.

Tim Berkel posted the fasted bike time with a 2:08:01 with Chris McDonald not far off with a 2:08:05. However, however their swim times that put them almost two minutes behind Cunningham at the swim/bike transition left them too much to do to in order to catch Cunningham.

Richie Cunningham went to the front on the bike course and stayed there for the rest of the race. He posted the best run time of the day with a 1:12:45 and that was more than enough for him to cruise to victory by over three minutes over Tim Berkel who finished second. Chris McDonald was the third to cross the finish line.

Emma-Kate Lidbury posted a bike time of 2:19:14 that was the fastest of the day and ultimately led to her winning the race. It was just too much for the rest of the field to make up.

Jessica Jacobs had a bike time of 2:19:58 but was not a factor for a podium spot after a 31:43 swim that put her far back of the leaders out of the water.

Kelly Williamson and Caitlin Snow matched Lidbury in the swim but were well off the pace on the bike with times of 2:28:12 and 2:27:40 respectively.

Emma-Kate ran a time of 1:24:43 and it was more than enough to take the win with a time of 4:13:52. Kelly Williamson had the fastest run of the day with a sizzling 1:18:16, but was still over a minute behind Lidbury at the finish line.
