A BIT ABOUT SCHWINN BIKES HISTORY
Schwinn is a registered product and was first created back in 1895 by Ignaz Schwinn and a partner by the name of Adolph Arnold. The company was first went by the name of (Arnold, Schwinn & Company). The company was actually founded in Chicago.
Although Schwinn was first created in the United States, it now has a solid reputation around the world as a leading manufacturer of fitness and recreational equipment.
By 1896 there were over 300 bike companies in the Unites States and just over 100 were in Chicago alone. Schwinn started there own bike racing program and by the year’s end they had more victories than any other company.
In 1934 Schwinn designed streamlined bikes that looked more like airplanes with their aerodynamic styling and this would be the fore-runner for the this style of bike right through to the 50′s.
OFF ROAD BIKE TECHNOLOGY
It was actually Schwinn who developed and introduced the fore-wheel brake, spring fork and cantilever frame that was the predecessor to the off road bikes people ride today.
In 1963 the Sting-Ray was trademarked by Schwinn and featured high-rise handlebars, stick shift, slick racing tires and the very famous banana seat.
EXPANDING INTO FITNESS
In 1965 Schwinn realized the need for fitness equipment as more and more people decided to get fit in what was to become a fitness boom that is still going on today.
They were the first ones to develop workout machines for the home featuring the Deluxe Exerciser exercise bikes, and were the forerunners to a multi-billion dollar industry, and in 1978 introduced their now famous Airdyne stationary bike.
In 1995 Schwinn decided to become partners with a fitness guru by the name of Johnny Goldberg and together they developed the Johnny G Spinner bike.
Schwinn also went on to offers its expertise in developing a worldwide network of Spinning instructors, facilities and distributors.
