2012 WTC Ironman Triathlon late season races

2012 is just about over and another great year of Ironman racing is coming to a close.

What a year 2012 has been for the WTC Ironman brand. Everything from inaugural races in Mont Tremblant, Quebec and New York, New York to a last hurrah for the much-loved and sure to be missed Ironman Canada in Penticton closing it’s door after 30 years of amazing memories.

How about the performance of Sister Madonna Buder in that final IMC 2012 race crossing the finish line at 83-years-old?

The bidding war and anticipation as a new venue in Canada came down to Kelowna, B.C. Whistler B.C. and Huntsville, Ontario with Whistler getting the nod as the new race in Western Canada set to go on August 25, 2013.

The date coinciding with the newly-minted Penticton Challenge that will see the challenge brand make it’s first foray into North America.

A year without Chrissie Wellington as she takes time off to Launch her new book A Life Without Limits and a year with Lance Armstrong trying his hand as a pro triathlete setting the Ironman world on it’s ear, getting banned by the WTC, and all the endless controversy on doping allegations that followed with no end in sight.

And what a great race in the Ironman Hawaii World Championships in October of 2012 that saw amazing performances by Leanda Cave and Peter Jacobs who will now reign as Ironman World Champions until the Fall of 2013.

There are still another dozen 2012 WTC Ironman Triathlon late season races to go before the season wraps up for the Christmas break.

As of October 22, 2012 there are four Ironman races left for the year.

Ironman Florida...............November 3, 2012
Ironman Arizona...............November 18,2012
Ironman Cozumel...............November 25,2012
Ironman West Australia........December 09,2012

West Australia has the distinction of being the last full Ironman distance race of the year.

There are eight Ironman 70.3 races left in the year.

Ironman 70.3 Miama............October  28, 2012
Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie...October  28, 2012
Ironman 70.3 Taiwan...........November 03, 2012

Ironman 70.3 Canberra has the honor of being the last race of 2012.

Congratulations to all those who reached the Ironman triathlon finish line for the very first time and best of luck to those who will be taking on that challenge in 2013.
