Ironman Vineman Results 2016

The Ironman Vineman Results 2016 featured great racing in Sonoma County, California on July 30.

The pros raced for prize money and Kona Ranking Points toward the quickly approaching Ironman Hawaii Championship set to go in the Fall. There were also 40 Ironman Hawaii Championship qualifying spots for the top age group athletes.

With August just around the corner the race for World Championship ranking points takes center stage in every WTC event where pros meet up.

Pedro Gomes was on the initial start list but not yet positive if he will race yet. Sometimes pros enter multiple races before finalizing their schedule. Gomes was second in the recent Ironman Canada 2016 in Whistler behind Andy Potts and may still be in recovery mode.

Kyle Buckingham, Guy Crawford, Chris McDonald and Richie Cunningham also have strong podium potential in this race.

Romain Guillaume of France was two minutes slower on the bike than the two leaders but on the strength of a very fast swim split he began the run with a lead of over four minutes.

It was Kotsegorov who managed to create a one minute lead over Thomschke as he neared the 8k mark and he hung on to that lead to cross the finish line first and claim top spot on the podium in the Ironman UK results 2016.

Daniele Ryf took charge of the race over the 180k bike course. Her split of 4:46:30 gave her a huge lead of around 20 minutes as she began her run. At this stage it appeared that little would prevent a sweep of the Ironman Switzerland results 2016 podium by the Swiss.

Emma Bilham was second, Regula Rohrbach third, Celine Scharer was fourth, and Natascha Badmann was fifth. All were from Switzerland. Non-Swiss athletes were sixth, seventh, and eighth.

At the 15k mark of the run the lead for Ryf was still over 20 minutes on Emma Bilham. However Michaela Herbauer had move into third and was attempting to prevent a Swiss dominance of the podium.

There was no catching Daniela Ryf today as she crosses the finish line first in the Ironman Switzerland results 2016.

Sebastian Kienle had about four minutes to a make up on his main competitor’s after the swim and that’s exactly what he did. He was about four minutes faster than anyone else once the dust settled on the 112-mile bike course.

It pretty much set up a three-man race between Kienle, Andi Boecherer, and Eneko Llanos as the run began. However it finished with Kienle coming out on top by about a minute over Boecherer by the time those two reached the finish line. Eneko Llanos of Spain prevents a podium sweep by the Germans.

Sebastian Kienle earns top spot on the podium in the Ironman Frankfurt results 2016 and is also the new European Champion. His time does not break the course record of 7:49:47 set by Jan Frodeno set in 2015.

It was not unexpected when Natascha Schmitt of Germany led the way in the 190km bike. But it didn’t hurt that defending champion Ryf did not finish the bike. Schmitt also had plenty of company as Daneila Saemmler, Melissa Hauschildt, and Verna Walter were all within close proximity. As many Ironman races do, it would come down to who had the most left in the tank for the 42km marathon.

After the halfway point of the marathon it was Hauschildt leading Natascha Schmitt by just under a minute. However, there was quite a shakeup in the order as the pro women reached the final stages of the run. Hauschildt continued to lead but Katja Konschak of Germany passed Daniela Saemmler, also of Germany, for second place.

Melisa Hauschildt crosses the finish line first and earns the top of the podium in the Ironman Frankfurt results 2016.

Congratulations to all those age-group athletes who took on the Frankfurt Ironman. Especially if it was your very first Ironman.

Finish this race and you will forever have the title “Ironman” in front
of your name. That can never be taken away from you, and every time you
hear the word, you will be reminded of what a remarkable journey it was,
and how taking up the challenge was the best decision of your life.
