Ironman Florida Results 2016

Top age-group athletes race for 40 Kona spots up for grabs in Ironman Florida results 2016.

On Saturday November 5, 2016 Panama City Beach once again played host to age-group triathletes racing for their spots in the Ironman Florida results 2016.

Ironman Florida has always been the perfect race for posting very fast times. The two-loop 2.4-mile swim takes place in the Gulf Of Mexico. The swim is followed by a very fast and flat one-loop 112-mile bike course.

A spectator friendly two-loop 26.2-mile marathon takes the triathletes through local neighborhoods and St. Andrews State Park.

As the race got underway there was heated competition in the swim for the male age-group athletes.

Three triathletes from three different age categories finished within one second of each other led by Tim Hola of the USA with his time of 53:29. Pedro Gomes and Fred Scharmer also of the USA crossed the swim finish together in 53:30. The top three males in the swim were also the only ones to finish the swim in under 54 minutes.

Rendy Opdycke and Fiona Carlon lead the way for the women with times of 1:00:05 and 1:00:28 respectively. Both competed in the 30-34 age category. They were the only two female swimmers to finish the swim course under 1:01:00.

In the 112-mile bike leg it must’ve been lonely out there for Jeff Joyner of the 35-39 age category. His split time of 4:34:46 was over five minutes ahead of second place Tim Hola who posted a bike time of 4:40:42.

The top finish times for the bike portion of the race were much closer for the women. Erin Humsi just edged out Mary Robbins for fastest bike split of the day. Humsi and Robbins were representing the 30-34 age category and posted times of 5:05:34 and 5:06:04.

The race for top spot among all male age categories went right down to the wire. Jack McAfee of the 30-34 age category just edged out Tim Hola who was in the 40-44 category.

They posted excellent times of 8:48:15 and 8:48:57 in the Ironman Florida 2016 results. Eduardo Della Maggiora of Chile was third overall for the men with a clocking of 8:58:22. Della Maggiora was part of the 35-39 age category and was one of only three finishers who crossed the finish line under nine hours.

The first female to cross the finish line was Mary Laure Close Lux of Belgium with an excellent time of 9:47:49. Erin Humsi of the USA finished in second place overall in 9:58:57. Rachel Hall of Great Britain was third in 10:02:17.
