FREE WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM

Is there a free weight loss program out there among all those pricey diet books? Books filled with healthy weight charts and vague information about what a person’s healthy weight range should be?

THE KEY TO ANY DIET

I’ve read many diet books over the years when I was marathon and Ironman Triathlon training. I was looking for a competitive edge when it came to race day.

When I first took up running over 30 years ago I had no concept of diet I could eat limitless amounts of any type of food I wanted because I was running so much.

Of course that wasn’t true. Yes, I was running so much that I was able to stay the same weight but the quality of the food I was not eating was not so great.

Eating three bowls of butterscotch ripple ice-cream after a 3 hour run tasted great but it was doing nothing for my endurance and energy levels.

Pasta is power food

It took many years to figure out, but the key to success in ANY diet is to eat the right balance of high quality carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.

That’s only half of the key to my concept of a free weight loss program. The other half of a virtually a free weight loss program at your finger-tips is to add fitness to your life on a regular basis.

MAKING EXERCISE EASIER

It’s one thing to want to diet so you can lose weight, but it’s another completely to diet and get fit for other great reasons as well.

People who diet and manage to lose weight seem very prone to putting it back on. I believe that’s in part because there is not enough of a payback for the effort expended to lose excess pounds.

Possibly my concept of a free weight loss program will help you reach your goal and keep it. Yes, you look better, feel better and are healthier, but that’s not always enough for some people.

People quit smoking with the very same results but are often still not happy and often slide back into the habit.

TRY SETTING AN ATHLETIC GOAL

Why not set an athletic goal? Why not plan to do something that might seem far out of your reach in your current situation? Why not become a runner or a triathlete? People all over the world of all body types and levels of ability are taking up the sport of triathlon.

It is a sport virtually for everyone and that’s exactly why it’s the fastest growing mainstream sport in the world.

If you have a lot of weight to lose(and some people have lost over 60 pounds and become runners or triathletes)then start out slow. Start by power walking a little at the beginning. Do it religiously 3 or 4 times a week with days off in between. As you get more used to it, walk a little further.

The fitter you get the more you can increase the challenge. You can walk further or walk faster, or a combination of both. After 5 or 6 weeks maybe begin to add some very easy running. Every week increase it a little.

One of the best things about triathlon is that it includes three sports and you can break up your training sessions by swimming or biking instead of running or walking every day. It would really help if you set an athletic goal to strive for. Perhaps give yourself one year to enter a 5k race and walk the entire thing. Or plan to run it.

Maybe it seems ludicrous to you but things have a way of changing once the fitness wheels are put in motion. You might just surprise yourself one day.Do whatever fits your level of ability and at the same time challenges you to improve your over-all health and well-being.

COMBINE EXERCISE WITH HEALTHIER EATING

There are two keys to this free weight loss program. Exercise or train religiously while at the same time eating a healthy balance of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. A good rule of thumb is to eat a diet of about 30% fat, 30% protein, and 40% carbohydrates.

It’s not difficult to understand the two types of carbohydrates. A simple carbohydrate might be donuts, candy, chocolates, ice-cream and all the other junk food out there that are loaded with sugars and unhealthy fats.

A complex might be whole wheat bread, brown rice, pasta, yams, potatoes, and fresh vegetables. A poor choice for protein might be red meat and good ones are eggs, chicken, fish, cottage cheese, and yogurt to name a few.

People don’t really need a diet to follow. What they really need is fundamental direction and purpose for going on a diet in the first place. All you have to do is think back to the days when people grew their own food and raised their own livestock. They worked hard, were physically fit because of it and ate healthy.

There was no fast food on the corner and being over-weight was seldom an issue.

MAKE IT MORE THAN A WEIGHT LOSS GOAL

Don’t worry so much about setting a weight loss goal. You won’t need an ideal body weight chart and will lose weight naturally if you combine fitness and good food choices. Eventually if you stick with it you will simply end up at your ideal body weight.

Yes, there is a free weight loss program at your finger-tips and you are reading it right now. It has been documented that people all over the world have lost incredible amounts of weight and become Ironman triathletes. One woman I know personally was just over 300 pounds. I was at the finish line of Ironman Canada when she crossed the line. She was 155 pounds on race day. It took her two years and she never lost sight of her goal to one day cross that finish line.

It changed her life forever. It didn’t take expensive diets, books, or counseling. It just took a will to succeed and firm resolve.

It’s a powerful combination when you combine healthy eating and fitness. Best of all it does not require you to measure the calories as long as you eat smart and work on your fitness every week for at least 3 or 4 days.

As you begin to see the results you will be inspired to make your training a little more challenging as the weeks and months pass. Your body weight will take care of itself and if you persist with healthy eating and fitness, pounds will simply melt away.

Challenge yourself to do more than just go on a diet to lose weight by doing something athletic one day in the future that you would never have thought possible. You will never want to go back to the way things were once you have experienced success.
