Pros race for $25,000 prize money and Pro Points in Ironman 70.3 Cartagena results 2017

The race got underway with a 1.9km swim in the warm waters of Bahía de las Ánimas. It was followed with a 90km bike between the cities of Cartagena and Barranquilla.

The final leg was the 21km two-loop run through Old Cartagena.

For the pro men it was Carlos Javier Quincha leading the way out of the water with a swim time of 24:35. Kevin Collington was just six seconds behind him. Just 17 seconds separated the first five pro men in the swim.

TJ Tollakson worked his way to the front on the bike course and began the run with a lead of about one minute on second place Kevin Collington. Horst Reichel was over four minutes back in third place.

Kevin Collington of the USA proved to be the fastest on the run course and earns himself top spot on the podium in the Ironman 70.3 Cartagena results 2017. His winning time was 3:52:56.

Horst Reichel of Germany was second in 3:54:01.

TJ Tollakson settled for the final spot on the podium after beginning the 21km run with the lead.

For the pro women it was Kelsey Withrow and Diana Castillo dueling for top spot in the swim. Withrow was first to finish the swim with a time of 26:31. Casillo was just two seconds behind her as they made their way into transition one.

Diana Castillo proved to be fastest on the bike course, but just barely. Kelsey Withrow was right with her as the began the 21km run. It was a two-woman race for top spot on the podium as third place Sarah Cameto was seven minutes behind the two leaders.

Diana Castillo proved to be the strongest on the run course. By the 17km mark she had a lead of over 3:30 on second place Kelsey Withrow.

Diana Castillo takes top honors in Ironman 70.3 Cartagena 2017 with a winning time of 4:28:49.
