Pros race for prize money and Pro Points in Ironman 70.3 Costa Rica results 2017.
It was a well-balanced field racing for podium spots among the pro men in Ironman 70.3 Costa Rica on Sunday June 18. At first glance it appeared there was no clear-cut favorite to win it all.

As the race got underway for the pro men it was a pack of six male pros leading the way into transition separated by just four seconds. The fastest official finisher was Leonardo Chacon of Costa Rica.
The race was remarkably close after the bike leg. Kevin Collington led the way by two seconds over Leonardo Chacon. Carlos Quinchara Fore was just two more seconds back in third, and Felipe Van De Wyngard was two seconds behind Quinchara.
Just six seconds separated the top four pro men.

Leanda Cave seemed to have the edge for the pro women as the race began, but would have to defend against some excellent USA talent.

Lauren Goss of the USA was first out of the water for the pro women. She was closely followed by Leanda Cave of Great Britain and Dede Griesbauer, also of the USA.
Late into the bike leg it was Dede Griesbauer with a lead of 1:48 over Leanda Cave who was comfortably in second. Third place Lauren Goss was 4:45 behind the leader.
