Ironman 70.3 Kansas results 2014

On Sunday June 7 another strong field of pros answered the starting gun for the 1.2-mile swim in Clinton Lake and set out to stake their claim on the Ironman 70.3 Kansas results 2014.

The friendly town of Lawrence, Kansas has played host to some of the most accomplished pro triathletes in the world including Chrissie Wellington.

The 2014 event featured male pros TJ Tollakson, Todd Skipworth, and Joe Umphenour who were sure to be near the front at some point in the race.

What a great swim pace set by the first three pro men out of the water. Joe Umphenour, Todd Skipworth, Davin Khan, and James Seear all broke the 23 minute mark in the swim with Skipworth and Khan leading the way in a dead heat for first.

Not Surprisingly, it was TJ Tollakson taking charge on the bike and he took a lead of two minutes onto the 13.1-mile run course.

James Seear was of Australia was second and Todd Skipworth was 3:30 behind the leader in third place.

It was Seear taking charge on the run course and by the nine mile mark he was well in control of the race with a lead of almost 2:30 over Todd Skipworth who was in second. TJ Tollakson was a further minute behind.

Seear comes out on top of the Ironman 70.3 Kansas results 2014 with a time of 3:52:18. Todd Skipworth closed some ground in the late miles but finish 1:12 behind the winner. Joe Umphenour rounded out the podium for the pro men.

The field for the pro women was every bit as tough and the only sure thing seemed to be that Amanda Stevens would be the first out of the water.

Sure enough, it was Amanda Stevens taking a 15 second lead into transition one, but full marks to Tami Richie for staying with her.

Rachel Joyce and Katy Blakemore also acquitted themselves well and were within striking distance of the lead when the 56-mile bike got underway.

Rachel Joyce was tough on the bike and charged into first place and it was Ruth Brennen Morrey who moved into second just 16 seconds back of the leader as they finished the bike.

Amanda Stevens was still in the mix in third place and had 1:40 to make up on the leaders as she started out on the 13.1-mile run course.

Ruth Brennen Morrey had surged into the lead at the five mile mark. She was just over one minute ahead of Rachel Joyce of GBR who was running in second.

At nine miles the spread between first and second was virtually the same and Lauren Barnett of the USA had moved into third place 2:15 behind the leader.

Rachel Joyce of Great Britain crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 4:14:44.

Lauren Barnett also of the USA was third in the Ironman 70.3 Kansas results 2014.
