Ironman 70.3 Philippines results 2014

Brent McMahon uses strong run to dominate Ironman 70.3 Philippines results 2014

Philippine triathletes made up the majority of the pro field but it was a three-way battle between Brent McMahon of Canada, and Sam Betten and Casey Munro of Australia who battled it out for the three podium spots.

It was almost as if they were tied together by a rope for the swim and bike.

The top three came out of the water virtually together after the 1.2-mile swim.

Not much changed on the bike course as nobody seemed inclined to try and make a break and it was left to the run to decide the winner.

It was the 1:17:59 run split registered by McMahon that propelled him to victory by a seven minutes over Betten who finished second.

Casey Munro did well to hang on to third spot as Cameron Brown was not that far back in fourth spot.

The Philippines had a strong showing for the pro men with over thirty of them entered in the race with pro status.

That most likely will be the largest pro entry from one country in any Ironman 70.3 in the world.

It shows how popular the sport is in the Philippines.
