Ironman 70.3 Shepparton results 2012

In a race that featured many top pros the 2012 running of Ironman 70.3 Shepparton on Sunday November 18 provided some great action and it was interesting to see who would come out on top of the Ironman 70.3 Shepparton results 2012.

Leon Griffin who went into the race as defending champion was the pre-race favorite but came up against some very stiff opposition.

THE RACE

It was Joseph Lampe leading the way out of the water with a great swim time of 22:35 that gave him a lead of almost a minute over Ternzo Bozzone.

The rest of the field including favorite Leon Griffin were at least two minutes behind the leader going into the swim/bike transition.

Terenzo Bozzone worked his way to the front on the bike course and never looked back. His run time of 1:12:02 was nothing short of spectacular and there was nobody in the field who could even come close to that time.

The final winning time for Bozzone was 3:46:59 and re-affirms just how fast the Ironman 70.3 Shepparton course is.

Joseph Lampe ran a very tough race and was full value for his second place finish, however he was six minutes behind the winner.

Leon Griffin, the 2011 champion took the final spot on the podium in a time of 3:53:59.

For the pro women it was Rebekah Keat and Lisa Marangon coming out of the water virtually together with at least a two-minute lead over the rest of the field. Nicole Ward was a full three minutes back of the leaders and was never able to catch up.

Although Lisa Marangon took a lead onto the run course, she was unable to hold off Keat who is the official winner of Ironman 70.3 Shepparton 2012 for the pro women.

Keat simply over-powered Marangon in the run as she posted a 1:22:01 run time as compared to Marangon’s 1:30:01. However, Marangon did take second place.
