You can always expect a great race with top competition when it’s billed as a Pro Championship race.

Such was the case in St.George, Utah on Saturday May 2, when the Ironman 70.3 North American Pro Championship St. George got underway.

Not only is there more prize money up for grabs, the race also comes with a fair amount of bragging rights.

it would’ve been a big challenge for anyone to pick the winners from this list of pros before the gun sounded to begin the race.

Many of the best triathletes in the world came to race in St. George, Utah.

Todd Skipworth of the USA led the way after the 1.2-mile swim but just barely as Jon Bird of Canada and Ben Collins also of the USA were right there with him.

The first 13 pro men out of the water were within one minute of each other.

Brent McMahon of Canada was the first one into transition two after the 56-mile bike. It had developed into a two-man race as Ben Collins of the USA was right with him.

The lead pair began the run with a lead of 30 seconds over Andrew Yoder who was in third place. Tim Don and Maik Twelsiek were fourth and fifth.

It was Tim Don who prevailed on the run course as he created space between himself and Brent McMahon and went on to take top spot on the podium in the Ironman 70.3 St. George results 2015.

McMahon hung on for second and as Andreas Raelert closed to within 17 seconds as he crossed the finish line to round out the podium.

The field for the pro women was not quite as large as the pro men, but the quality of the competition was every bit as good.

Three of the top female pro triathletes in the world were in the field and it made for an exciting race.

For the pro women it was no surprise to see Meridith Kessler and Jodie Swallow vie for the lead coming out of the water.

They were also joined by Mary Beth Ellis and Annabel Luxford who were just two and three seconds respectively behind the two leaders.

Jodie Swallow and Meridith Kessler continued their battle on the bike course and were right together entering the bike/transition.

Annabel Luxford was in third place just 20 seconds behind the leaders and Alicia Kaye and Mary Beth Ellis were also in the mix for podium spots less than one minute behind the two leaders.

However it was Canadian Heather Wurtele who ran them all down to take the top spot in the Ironman 70.3 St. George results 2015.
