The other Ironman race going on in the world at the same time as 70.3 U.K. was Ironman Regensberg 2012.

  1. Hi,
Your article & results gave me a heart stopping moment – I train with Paul & Jo Clift in a group called “Rebel Tri” and I was surprised not to see Jo’s name amongst the highest F 50-54. I thought that she must have had a problem but was relieved to find that the results had her in teh wrong age group. Fortunately at the event they had it right so they were both age group winners.

    • The problem was probably caused by some sort of error in her entry form. Usually they will ask what your age will be on race-day, perhaps Jo had a birthday in between filling out the application and and the race and did not change her age from 49 to 50? When I checked into IronmanLive official results I see that Jo is still in the 45-49 age-group in sixth place. When I clicked on Jo’s name she comes up as 49-years-old so on paper Jo is where she is supposed to be. However I have moved her to the top of the next age-group(assuming the change was made at the awards and that she was, according to you, fifty on race-day. Please ask Jo about the age thing and pass it along so I can ensure I have her in the correct spot. It is odd that Ironmanlive has not corrected it.

      Thanks

      • Yes, the article wrongly said I was the oldest female – there was at least 1 in the 60-64 age group as I saw her receive her trophy! Nice to be mentioned though even though it was wrong!

  2. Also I was talking to the 75 year old guy, Peter Norman, who was the oldest man in the race. He picked up his trophy too. His race number was the year of his birth 1937.

    • Thanks for Letting me know Lesley! I usually go back and check once the race is long over, because often there are later arrivals that get missed. However, in this case I somehow forgot to re-check. I always strive to leave no-one out, and my sincere apologies to these amazing athletes on their accomplishment. The results have been updated.
