IRONMAN ANTWERP 70.3 RESULTS 2011

It was a Belgium sweep for the men and women pros in 2010 and it will be interesting to see if there is a repeat in the Ironman Antwerp 70.3 results 2011.

There are some very good pros who will challenge for the top spot in Ironman Antwerp 70.3.

It’s great to see Natascha Badman entered in the race. It has been a long road back since she crashed out on the Queen K. Highway during Iroman Hawaii 2007.

It just goes to show you how fit and strong triathlon can make a person.

After the accident she hears “your triathlon days are over” from doctors yet here she is. I would love to see her on the podium.

Here are last years winners and as you can see Bart Aernouts and Sophie Goos have both returned to defend their Antwerp 70.3 titles.

THE RUN

ALEX ZEEBROEK, BART AERNOUTS, MARKUS FACHBACH, ROMAIN GUILLAUME, and IAN LEITCH were the first five out on the run course with Bart still holding the lead, but only 4 minutes separated the top four places so at this point anyone of them had a shot at winning and topping the Ironman Antwerp 70.3 results 2011.

The lead for Alex begins to decrease and 6km into the run defending champion Bart Aernouts was only 1:30 behind.

For the women SOFIE GOOS is out on the run course by herself and has a good chance of beating this field of women pros and taking her second consecutive Ironman Antwerp 70.3 title in her home country.

However she will have to fight off a few challenges. Sofie Goos leads her compatriot Sophie De Groote by 1:18. Vesterby is third at 2:51, Badmann fourth at 5:56 at the first check-point in the run.

BART AERNOUTS has come on strong and takes over the lead late in the run over his countryman ALEX ZEEBROEK. One thing is certain now. A Belgium will win this race as the rest of the field has fallen off the pace and third place is 4 minutes away from the leaders.
