IRONMAN BRANSON 70.3 RESULTS 2011
Sunday September 18, 2011 the Ironman Branson 70.3 results 2011 were one of no less than four WTC 70.3 races are taking place around the world.
The 2011 70.3 season recently came to an end with Craig Alexander and Melissa Rollison winning the Marine Corp Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
1400 triathletes will be taking to the water in Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri.
Branson sits among the Ozark Mountains and has long been a family holiday destination. There’s always lots to do as the Branson area features, a huge theme park, dozens of other attractions, three lakes, and 12-Championship golf courses.
THE BRANSON IRONMAN 70.3 COURSE
The one-loop, clockwise swim course is configured in a triangle and will start off Moonshine Beach. There will be a short run of around 50m to the swim/bike transition area.
The bike course is two-loops and after the inaugural running of this race in 2010 it quickly gained the reputation of being one of the toughest bike courses on the circuit.
Any time you get a bike course that constitutes mainly climbing and descending it seems to level the playing field. The tough courses tend to break up the field.
On the other hand the three-loop run course is basically flat and fast run times can be expected.
The professional men and women’s fields will be competing for $15,000 and 500 Pro Ranking points to go towards qualifying for Ironman and Ironman 70.3 World Championships.
There are 40 age group spots to be awarded for the Marines Ironman World Championship 70.3, held at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada, in September 2012.
Ben Hoffman won this race last year and is returning to defend his title as well as to use this race as a final “hot, fast” tune-up for Kona and the Ironman world Championships on Septmeber 8.
Ben won the IRONMAN BOISE 70.3 and Muncie 70.3 earlier this year as well as a second place finish in IRONMAN LAKE PLACID 2011 and has not raced since.
It is hard to go against Ben Hoffman as the clear favorite to come out on top of the Ironman Branson 70.3 results 2011 with perhaps Matt Lieto providing the main challenge.
On the pro women side it looks Like it will come down to a race between Nina Kraft and Jessica Myers.
