Ironman Brazil results 2014

Coming out on top of the Ironman Brazil results 2014 would take some doing as almost four dozen pros were on hand to answer the starting gun at El Divino Beach on Sunday May 25 in Florianopolis, Brazil.

The two lap 2.4-mile swim was followed by a two loop 112-mile bike that tested the athletes who would have to endure several very big climbs.

Like pretty much every year Ironman Brazil sold out early as it’s one of the most popular races on the Ironman circuit.

The marathon was comprised of three loops that were mostly flat. The hill was on the first 13 mile loop and the second and third loops were 6.5 miles.

He was just forty seconds back and he made up 25 seconds of that in transition and they began the run virtually together.

The next closest to the lead pair was Marcel Zamora of Spain and he was over six minutes back of the lead pair.

It took until the 30k mark but finally it was Amorelli who began to create a gap over Ascenco and there would be no catching him and hometown favorite Igor Amorelli takes top spot in the Ironman Brazil results 2014.

Surprisingly Amorelli is the first pro from Brazil to win the race.

His winning time was 8:07:54. Santiago Alves Ascenco and Marcel Zamora were second and third with times of 8:11:46 and 8:16:16 respectively.

Lucie Zelenkova proved to be strong right up until the 135k mark when she held a lead of over three minutes over Sophie Goos, Sara Gross, and Ana Lidia Borba who were riding close together in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.

However by the time the first women reached the bike/run transition it was Borba, Gross, and Goos who had made their way to the front as Zelenkova fell off the pace and was 1:30 back.

When the first women reached the 15k point of the marathon it was Sara Gross of Canada in the lead by about 35 seconds over Sophie Goos and Gianinni was just over two minutes back in third place.

Full marks to Sara Gross of Canada who just finished racing in Ironman Texas.

She was having what looked to be a pretty good race in the Woodlands, but things fell apart for her in the run and she finished well off the pace in 18th spot.

Check out the 2014 Ironman Texas results from last week.

There was still a lot of running to do, but at the 20k mark of the marathon Gross was still holding the lead, but Sophie Goos was just 60 seconds back.

With just 2k to go Sara Gross was still maintaining a lead of three minutes on her nearest pursuers. It was still Goos and Gianinni running in second and third spots.

There was no catching Canadian Sara Gross and it’s a remarkable win for her especially considering she finished Ironman Texas just seven days ago.

Her winning time was 8:56:35.
