Romaine Guillaume and Diana Riesler post winning times in Ironman Malaysia results 2017

It was an excellent day of racing in Malaysia that featured a sold out field. Top pros raced for prize money of $25,000 and 2000 Pro Points.

Top finishers in all age-group categories had the opportunity to claim one of 50 qualifying spots for the Ironman World Championship scheduled to take place in the Fall of 2018.

Balazs Csoke led a lead pack of four pro men out of the water with his swim split of 48 minutes flat. Romain Guillaume was just five seconds pack in second place. Another three and four seconds back were Danill Sapunov and Christian Kramer. The rest of the field had 2:30 or more to make up on the leader.

Romain Guillaume took charge of the race on the bike course. By the time he reached transition two, he had a lead of 10:48 over Christian Kramer who was in second place.

There was no stopping Guillaume. His lead off the bike proved to be insurmountable and he claimed top spot on the podium in the Ironman Malaysia results 2017. His winning time was 8:32:53.

German female pros Mareen Hufe and Diana Riesler were most definitely the favorites in this compact field as the starting gun sounded to begin the race.

Laurel Wasner was fastest out of the water for the pro women. She was 1:28 of Saleta Castro Nogueira who was second. Diana Riesler was 2:08 off the pace in third and Maureen Hufe was fourth with 2:13 to make up on the leader.

Much as expected, it was Reisler and Hufe out-pacing the field on the bike course.

Reisler had a lead of 7:44 as she began the marathon.
