Ironman Texas 2011 finisher medal.

At the forty mile mark the leaders formed into a group of 10.

John Flanagan the leader until then was joined by:

Luke Bell
Luke McKenzie
Eneko Llanos
Timothy Odonnel
Rene Goehler
Romain Guillaume

At mile 50 Sofie Goos had the lead on the bike and was followed by:

Tine Deckers
Linsey Corbin
Catriona Morrison
Joanna Lawn
Dede Griesbaue

Chris Lieto jumps into the lead on the bike and is first to the transition and posts a blazing 4:15:13 bike split.

The chase group of men reach the transition area and head out on the marathon course and begin to chase Chris Lieto.

This group included:

5:17:18 Luke Bell Cardiff
5:17:20 Eneko Llanos
5:17:50 Jan Raphael
5:18:32 Luke McKenzie
5:18:34 Axel Zeebroek
5:18:59 Timothy Odonnell

On the women’s side Tine Deckers recorded a 4:44:46 bike split and led the way onto the marathon course.

The nearest woman was over six minutes behind Deckers leaving transition and it would take a special effort to stop Deckers from being first in the ironman Texas results 2011.

Chris Lieto had to pull out of the race and that opened things up considerably for the chasing men. Bell and Llanos jump to the lead with Tim O’Donnell less than a minute behind.

Things can change dramatically in the final stages of any Ironman marathon and Ironman Texas was no different.

Eneko Llanos crossed the finish line first in a time of 8:08:20 to take top spot on the podium int the first ever ironman Texas results 2011.

Tim O’Donnell hung on for second followed by Luke Bell.

Beth Walsh from Encinitas CA was the first woman age-grouper and crossed the finish line in a time of 9:53:05. A great result for Beth.

All and all it was a great day in the Longhorn state and IM Texas was a resounding success. This may well be the fastest Ironman course on the planet and may well see sub-8 hours in the near future.

I might be wrong here, but it seems the winners of the pro men and women were also the winners in Lanzarote last year. Will have to check on that one.

Tim O’Donnell had a spectacular first Ironman with his second place finish in the ironman Texas results 2011/em>.
