Schwinn Bikes have a long history of success when it comes to supplying quality exercise equipment for the fitness minded. It might be a brand to consider if you are interested in getting yourself an exceptional piece of exercise equipment.

A BIT ABOUT SCHWINN BIKES HISTORY

Schwinn is a registered product and was first created back in 1895 by Ignaz Schwinn and a partner by the name of Adolph Arnold.

Although Schwinn was first created in the United States, it now has a solid reputation around the world as a leading manufacturer of fitness and recreational equipment.

By 1896 there were over 300 bike companies in the Unites States and just over 100 were in Chicago alone. Schwinn started there own bike racing program and by the year’s end they had more victories than any other company.

In 1934 Schwinn designed streamlined bikes that looked more like airplanes with their aerodynamic styling. This would be the fore-runner for the this style of bike right through to the 50’s.

OFF ROAD BIKE TECHNOLOGY

It was actually Schwinn who developed and introduced the fore-wheel brake, spring fork and cantilever frame. This technology would become the predecessor to the off road bikes people ride today.

In 1963 the Sting-Ray was trademarked by Schwinn and featured high-rise handlebars, stick shift, slick racing tires and the very famous banana seat.

EXPANDING INTO FITNESS

In 1965 Schwinn realized the need for fitness equipment as more and more people decided to get fit. It was the beginning of a fitness boom that is still going on today.

Schwinn were the first ones to develop workout machines for the home featuring the Deluxe Exerciser exercise bikes. They would become the forerunners to a multi-million dollar industry. In 1978 Schwinn introduced their now famous Airdyne stationary bike.

In 1995 Schwinn decided to become partners with a fitness guru by the name of Johnny Goldberg and together they developed the Johnny G Spinner bike.

Schwinn also went on to offers its expertise in developing a worldwide network of Spinning instructors, facilities, and distributors.
