Here are seven reasons you will never be an Ironman.
You can probably think of a lot more, but most can be overcome and reaching the Ironman finish line is a very real possibility.
(1)You think you’re too overweight and out of shape.(Yeah, maybe today, but tomorrow’s a new beginning)
(2)You can’t afford a $5000 bike.(So buy a used $800 bike…it’s not the cost of the bike, it’s the size of your heart and the depth of your will)
(3)You’re in your 40’s or 50’s and think you’re too old(Don’t tell that to the 60-64 and 65-69 and 70-74 age-group ironman finishers around the world)
(4)You’re afraid of failing and not finishing(Getting to the start line of an Ironman is a monumental victory so you can’t fail)
(5)You can’t swim. So learn. Developing the ability to tackle a 2.4-mile open water swim is perhaps the greatest skill you will ever learn. Thousands of novice Ironmen have done it. Why not you? As impossible as it might first seem many people have conquered the Ironman swim. Many people new to the Ironman have learned to swim when they are in their 40’s or 50’s. It’s never to late to learn a new skill if you are determined enough.
(6)You don’t have time(You work for eight hours and sleep for eight hours…so what are you doing with the other eight? You only need a couple of hours a day maybe four days a week to get started on your Ironman journey)
(7)Somebody tells you that you can’t do it and you believe them. This is probably the biggest reason why many people don’t live their Ironman dream. It can be difficult if nobody believes in you or worse yet, talks you out of it completely. Don’t listen to the naysayers and do it for yourself.
